Hello. We are MoonDawn
Media & Communications.

Dynamite comes in small packages!

We may all agree that some of the smallest things can affect many things in a large way. A case in point is the evolution of MoonDawn Media – a young PR consultancy firm that came onto the scene almost three years ago – which has since established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the South African public relations space. MoonDawn Media’s journey started in June 2015 when Founder & PR Director Bridgette Macheke, with merely three years of PR experience at the time, defied the test of starting a new business to develop a vision that, three years later, would set the business apart in such a seemingly overtraded and cutthroat PR consultancy environment in South Africa.

Among MoonDawn Media’s clients are some large international corporates that have entrusted the young, 100% black and 100% woman-owned firm with one of the critical arms of any meaningful business, public relations. MoonDawn Media successes are a result of some innovative interventions that embodies where the public relations industry is going. One of the key interventions to increase media coverage and visibility for our clients is the migration from the conventional press release approach to a tailored content marketing strategy.

MoonDawn Media believes every PR campaign starts with a story and is based off content. The content you provide your audience has to have value, it has to be promoted and it has to be properly structured for SEO purposes. Without taking the time to ensure that the content being presented is valuable, has purpose, and will produce results by pre-scanning audiences through analytics – content fails.

The return on investment for content marketing can be phenomenal if implemented correctly. Almost 100% of the success we have experienced with content marketing can be traced to a handful of tailored articles we have written, together with our clients. This, we believe, is the future of PR.

Bridgette Macheke
Public Relations Director

Bridgette Macheke is the Founder and PR Director of MoonDawn Media. She holds a qualification in Public Relations from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and has vast experience in the field of public relations and marketing. She has led the young public relations company from its inception in June 2015 and has since proven herself as a trendsetting and passionate PR executive with a strong drive to challenge the status quo. The business has grown from a single-woman show to become a team of six strong professionals.

Bridgette attributes her success to her unfailing optimism and passion for PR and ‎marketing. She has combined her skills and experience in marketing and publicity with her in-depth knowledge of the media to secure consistent and valuable media exposure on behalf of her clients.

Having achieved measurable success in the South African PR industry, Bridgette was nominated for a PRISM Award in the category ‘Best Up and Coming PR Professional for 2015’ and is recognized as one of the top professionals in the industry.

Samu Hashe
Public Relations Executive

At MoonDawn Media and Communications, Samu’s role entails developing and executing public relations campaigns that integrate with our clients’ marketing strategies. Her PR passion is driven by the vigour to help clients uncover, create and amplify their brand stories through goal-oriented public relations. She believes in the power of relationships, and reiterates that great relationships are the cornerstone of success in the PR game.

Backed by her strong relations with a network of targeted and relevant media houses that we partner with to share our clients’ stories, going around her day-to-day duties – including pitching story ideas to media, arranging interviews, speaking engagements and other media opportunities for her client base – is her greatest shot of adrenaline. Samu officially received her media qualification from Boston Media House in 2017. That it took her some extra two years to finally accomplish her dream qualification due to challenges beyond her control is a true indicator of her never-say-die attitude, which has been the backbone of her early success in her young PR career.

Taking a look at Samu’s day-to-day activities at MoonDawn Media, from monitoring the media to reviewing current campaigns, it seems as though there are few schedules more hectic than that of someone working in the PR environment, especially at a PR firm that is relentlessly going up!

Fumani Baloyi
Digital Strategist

Fumani is the brains behind MoonDawn Media and Communications’ digital strategy. In a rapidly changing “Digital First” economy, Fumani has spent many years transforming brands and businesses to take a “Digital First” approach to their marketing. At MoonDawn, he oversees the entire digital marketing activities for all our clients’ marketing strategies. He works closely with clients to create long-term plans and goals for all their digital marketing platforms. Fumani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Rhodes University. Driven by his love for everything digital, after his degree, he went on to acquire a graphic design certificate from the University of Cape Town, before attaining a few other digital marketing certifications from leading marketing and technology pacesetters such as Hubspot and Google.

One would wonder why someone who majored in management and economics for his bachelor of Commerce degree chose this career path! Fumani is a “sucker for all things digital”, that’s in his own words. His biggest shot of adrenaline is social commerce, as well as social and digital marketing trends. He is obsessed by the impact that technology has had on consumer behaviour, and the future of marketing in a digital first economy. As a creative individual, this career allows him to continuously challenge himself to the limits. “I love working with people and finding solutions to their problems,” he says.

At MoonDawn Media, Victoria provides comprehensive support to the office, ensuring that the team is settled in a tidy and conducive working environment. She also takes care of the team’s tea and refreshments needs.

In PR, striving towards efficiency is a mission at all times. There are only so many hours in a day to stay up-to-date with current news, meet deadlines, be responsive to emails and attend meetings.

Victoria makes us all sane around the office with her much needed refreshments that help with increased, sustained focus, ensuring great concentration for extended periods of time. Such is her significance to the MoonDawn cause!
